19th May 2005. Mark this date down
on your calendar. If you don't have a calendar for next
year, mark this down somewhere that's visible. Mark it
down in red. This is the day for the opening of Star Wars
Episode III : Revenge Of The Sith. I just caught the
teaser trailer. Man, was it mind-blowing.
It's easy to set goals and plan for
it. Just think of a goal, write it down and plan on
achieving it. Your teachers, your parents, your career
counselor and your friends will tell you the same thing:
set a goal, work towards it. However, the real challenge
comes in maintaining that focus and drive needed in the
efforts towards achieving your goals. It's easy to get
distracted, to go off-course, to lose sights of things
that matter most. This can happen to you just about any
time and any where. I know. It happened to me plenty of
times. Such experiences have taught me plenty about
myself.
Firstly, on a positive note, I'm
easily motivated. A new project, a new challenge, a new
skill can infuse me with overflowing creativity. It can
spurred me to an extend that I'll feel that impossible is
nothing. I'll find much joy and excitement when embarking
on something different, something new. This can lead to
good results, if not impressive.
However, on the downside, I find it
hard to maintain the drive needed to see something to the
end. This is especially so if the project or challenge
gets dragged on unnecessarily. Obviously this is something
that I must overcome. The key lies in ensuring that the
motivations that I had when I started serve to remind me
time and again. Easier said than done? Not really. It's
just a matter of practice. After all, practice makes
perfect.

Sleepless
Saturday Morning: After eating early this morning
(in preparation for fasting) I found myself unable to
sleep so watched Dodgeball on my pc instead. It's been a
long time since I watched a show on my computer. Anyway
the show is so-so in terms of funniness. Definitely not
one of Ben Stiller's better shows (Zoolander is still the
funniest! Too bad it's not shown in Singapore). Thereafter
felt sleepy and slept.
Woke up at 4pm. Wow... spent the
rest of the day cleaning up my room and the house (abit).
Hari Raya is 1 week away, and I've yet to buy new clothes
and shoes. Looks like shopping is coming up real soon.
Party Time:
After breaking fast I got ready to go to Joy's party. It's
being held at her place. I was already running late. When
I reached her place, I was shocked. Boy there was a LOT of
people. Not surprising since it's her 21st birthday
celebration. It sure was good to see a number of friends
again. Friends like Nicole, Ivy, Ingrid, Jian Hao, Yingjie,
Zifeng, Clement, Yu Sern, Gavin, Dennis, Yew Keat, Kwan,
Lynn, Fiona, Yanlin, Sanipher, Zuwei, Jacky and Benjamin.
Anyway, normal party, where everyone ate, then hanged
around, awaiting for the birthday cake to make it's
appearance. Of course amongst guests there will be the
occasional small talks, joking and sharing stories. After
that everyone sang the birthday song, took photos and ate
cake as desert. Simple and standard affair. The only thing
that was outstanding about the whole party is the birthday
girl. I haven't seen Joy for quite some time, but tonight
she looked really good. I suppose it's the happiness that
she's feeling to be celebrating her birthday. It seems to
glow around her.
After the party I thought of
joining my friends at Chinatown but they told me that they
might be leaving early. Hence I just headed home.
Reflections:
I found myself being mean more than usual lately. To
almost everyone. And I'm at a lost of explanation as to
why this is so. It's definitely not my intention. One
thing is for sure. I am getting irritated by the sudden
pimple outbreak. Argh!!!

Talentime
Update: My appearance for talentime has been
delayed yet again! Haha... I figured that going down to
school on Saturday morning was a tad inconvenient,
especially since I've no class tomorrow. Furthermore, a
lot of my friends aren't able to view my performance as
they'll be at the SRC Netball tournament. Since I planned
to have an audience of friends, that weighted heavily upon
my decision to postpone my timing for the auditions.
Day With Dean:
Woke up pretty early today for work at Yishun SAFRA.
Whilst at work, I realized that my schedule is empty for
the rest of the day. That got me into the mood for
watching movie. Decided to asked Diana along as Weiyang
did mention that she likes to watch this kind of shows.
Called her up and she agreed. We then asked Weiyang and
Gail along but both were unavailable to watch the show. So
ended up just the two of us watching a horror show at
530pm.
I was late. Diana said I owe her
one. Hmmm... wonder how that will be repaid. Anyway prior
to the show we walked around to window shop. It was then I
remembered that I've yet to get a present for Joy (her
birthday party is tomorrow). Made a mental note to go hunt
for the present later before we rushed into the theatre
(window shopped till we lost track of time).
Doll Master
Review: This Korean horror flick is quite good! The
dolls in the show are pretty scary with their life-like
appearance. What I like most about the movie is the
story-line and how the plot unfolds in a timely manner.
Injected within are some dark humour that can be pretty
entertaining and a loving story that can touch you, though
mildly. The cast carry out a pretty convincing performance
at the beginning of the show, but falls short towards the
end. Only the dolls managed a consistently good
performance throughout. If you're in for a good scare with
a good story, this is one of the rare few. Definitely
worth watching over the weekends.
After the show, we had dinner at
Far East. Bumped into Rizal there, he was with his
colleague (I think it's his colleague, didn't really ask).
After dinner, it was off to shopping! We went from Far
East to Centrepoint to Plaza Singapura to search for Joy's
gift. You can say that we walked almost the whole of
Orchard Road! Oh, along the way, bumped into Yuxuan and
Aveline. They were on their 13th day of going out together
(they planned to see how long they'll be going out
together). Finally settled for a handbag from Double Index
in Plaza Singapura. Thanks, Diana, for your help in
picking the gift! =D
Having gotten the gift, I walked
Diana to the bus stop and waited with her for the bus to
arrived. We chat plenty from the moment we met earlier in
the day till the moment her bus came. Almost seemed like
we can chat the night away. All in all it was a very
enjoyable date.

Just finished tidying up my room
abit. Small achievement for today.
Many thanks to Zonghao, Sean and
Larry. Each has helped me significantly with my search for
the KTV MTV version of 'Qi Li Xiang'. Now I can put the
search to rest and focus on my practice. Yeah!
Finally, I managed to get some
long, well-earned rest. Slept for 10 hours, the longest
I've ever slept in weeks, perhaps months. The long slumber
was pleasantly assisted by the cool weather. Oh, it rained
the hardest today. Wohoo~
I had the whole day to myself, and
was in Orchard for the 3rd time this week. This time was
in Orchard alone, after doing some business dealings.
Almost caught the movie 'The Doll Master', one of the many
shows suggested by Cai Xia. Once I've seen the show will
share with you my review on it. ;) Oh, I stumbled upon a
local website which provided a summary of show times for
all the cinemas. It'll be pretty useful if you rely on the
Net to check out the timings. The website is appropriately
called 'Movie
Guide'.
As I wandered the streets many
thoughts flooded my mind. It's hard to recall these
thoughts now since the brain is rather sleepy at this
time. Haha... what I can remember most vividly is how I
felt about time.
About Time :
I remember that reading somewhere
that many of us don't realize how precious life and time
can be until we are faced with grave situations, like
meeting a deadline, nearing an exam or in extreme cases,
being diagnosed with a terminal disease and having weeks
to months left to live. We tend to idle our time away with
meaningless actions or fruitless arguments. We prefer to
let time go by than to make most of it. In some common
cases, we wasted our youth away crying over spilled milk
and wondering a lot on 'what ifs' (eg. What if I had asked
for her number?). There is no end to the list of cases of
time wasting. If time is equals to life (time = life),
then it is safe to deduce that we are guilty of wasting
our life away.
This realization has hit upon me
many times. It serves to remind me that I must do my best
not to waste away the remainder of my mortal life. One of
the many ways that I have thought of is argue less. Of
course, conflicts can't be avoided, but the time spent
resolving them can be shortened. Whenever I find myself
heading towards an argument or caught in midst of one I
ask myself,' Why are we arguing?'. If there is no good
answer than there is no good reason to continue arguing,
right? Consider this when you argue with someone next
time.
Another way to not waste time is by
pondering and wondering over break-ups. Face it, you can't
force love, if it's not meant to be, then it's not meant
to be. Your crying won't bring back your partner
whole-heartedly if he/she has a change of heart and left
you. 'Time heals all wounds' is bullshit. If you let time
go by and still hang on to the past you will never get
anything healed. Yes, you are entitled to cater to your
emotional distress and spend some time mending a broken
heart. We are all human after all. Yet as you do so, think
about this: are your tears worth another minute? You
definitely can do better in your search for that special
someone. However your new search won't start if you're
wasting your time feeling down. Time to pick yourself up
and move on. You know you can. I know you can. Believe
that there is someone out there who is worth your time.
Don't keep that person waiting.
That's all I can say for now, about
time. I leave you with this phrase which has stuck with me
since I got it from the film, Lord Of The Rings : Return
Of The King:
"All you have
to decide... is what to do... with the time given to you"
Oh, thanks for your time in
visiting and ready. =D

Go-Quiz.com
Haha... I think the above traits
describe me quite well.
Anyway, almost had heat exhaustion
today. Was working at Yishun SAFRA, belaying some students
under the hot sun. The weather really tested my body. I
was very thirsty by the time I got home. Almost broke my
fasting. Almost.
Changed the timing for my slot in
the preliminary round of the Talentime competition. I'm
slated to carry out my performance on Saturday, at 12noon,
in LT1.10. I picked Saturday as I could use with the extra
time to practice. And to find the KTV MTV for 'Qi Li Xiang'.
Anyone out there has it?
Today Huihui asked me if I'm free
to join her group for the upcoming ODAC Amazing Race. It's
on the 19th and 20th of November. Seeing as I've nothing
planned yet I agreed. The event itself sounds quite fun.
The other team members are Francis, Weiling and Wayne. Go
Team! First prize is $500 cash. It's ours. Hahahahaha...
After dinner, I went to watch a
French film called 'A Piece Of Sky'. Now I don't know
about French film much, but to me this is the worst film I
have watched, ever. It is so abstract that you are better
off watching National Geographic. A lot of time was spent
filming unnecessary scenes (I'm guessing at least 40mins
of it) making the whole show very draggy. There is minimal
dialogue that you can mistake it for a mime show.
15mins into the show I felt like
burning down the cinema.
30mins into the show I felt like
going to France and shoot the director who made this film.
45mins into the show I feel asleep.
I only enjoyed the movie when it's
finally over. Even the ending is so sudden that other
people in the cinema were heard saying,' That's it?'
For me, I was telling myself,'
Finally, it's over. A piece of shit.'
Now I enjoy watching foreign films
bit this one doesn't qualify for the cinema. It would have
been better shown on Arts Central. Or best, not shown at
all.

Practicing for the Talentime
competition has stepped up to a higher gear now. I'm
bringing my lyrics almost everywhere and listening to the
song on my mp3 wherever I go. Honestly I've yet to
accomplish the task of singing the song without referring
to the lyrics. All in good time.
Just to share with you, I'm joining
the competition for the fun of it. I've joined the
competition since year 1 and the experience has always
been good. Which is why I just keep coming back. Besides,
someone did mention to me that pursuit of success has
always been relentless. This is something like that. I
define my success as being able to finish my performance
the way I plan it to be. And in that I find a way to enjoy
what I'm doing. Not the conventional way of doing things,
but then again, I'm anything but ordinary.
Talking about competitions, today
Gail, Weiyang and I managed to catch the winner of the
Subaru Impreza Challenge just as it happened. When we
reached outside Ngee Ann City (competition venue), the
Emcee was announcing the winner, Ian Lee. He had stayed on
for 74hrs 58mins. Honestly, he should have just stayed on
for another 2 mins to get a perfect 75hrs of wait. But
then again, after enduring hunger, lack of sleep and
fatigue for that long, 2 mins makes a big difference! =P
Anyway, 7458 is a good number, don't you think? ;)
Prior to meeting up with Gail and
Weiyang, I was at Orchard Library. I had planned to return
a book but discovered that in my rush, I forgot to bring
the book along. Out of habit, I checked my borrower record
and realized to my horror that the books I had were
overdue! I'm already being fined for not returning the
books on time. Immediately called home to ask my younger
sister for help to return the books. Luckily I remembered
that she had wanted to visit the library today.
Ironically, one of the book is 'Effective Memory
Techniques'. =P
Anyway, went out to walk and window
shop around Orchard afterwards, with Amy, Diana, Gail,
Weiyang and Kervin. It was quite fun. Oh, and I had a
great feast during dinner/break fast time. 2 plates of
rice, a bowl of tom yam soup, lemon chicken, vegetables,
and 1/2 a plate of small Hawaiian Pizza from Pasta Mania.
The lemon chicken, vegetable and rice was a set meal
(Set Meal C) ordered from Lerk Thai which can be found at Scotts
Picnic, near the toilet. The lemon chicken is crispy and
palatable, not that fantastic. Whilst ordering I noticed
that the green chicken curry is a hot pick amongst other
customers. Will have to try that next time I'm there. It
did look good. Anyway the tom yam soup is fantastic! It is
spicy and sour at a 'just nice' proportion. There's a good
serving of seafood in the soup (prawn included, although
just one, but hey, it's good enough).

Diana found it too spicy though and
didn't touch hers much. Oh, Diana and I played
scissors-paper-stone for some after-dinner entertainment.
Loser has to take a sip of the soup. Prior to playing I
did mention that I'm on a lucky streak lately. Winning 3
games in a row proved my point.
After much walking and
window-shopping, we settled down at Coffee Club Express in
Wisma to chill. Out of curiousity I ordered Cafe Mocha.
It's the best drink I had, ever, from Coffee Club Express.
It tasted abit like hot chocolate though, but smoother.
Someone mentioned that paying $5.20 for something that
tasted kind of like Milo is a tad extravagant. I've to
agree there. Still, I just think of it as paying the
extras for the service and the environment. - signed, sealed and delivered by

It is confirmed. I will be singing
'Qi Li Xiang' by Zhou Jie Lun for the preliminary rounds
of the Talentime competition. The preliminary rounds start
this Thursday and goes onto Friday and Saturday. Each
round will start around 3pm and will be held at LT1.10. My
slot will be on Friday, approximately at 345pm. Wish me
luck~
Today Huihui looked kind of
unhappy. That got me worried. I found out that she was
irritated by her friend. However, I think there's more to
it. Will have to find out more, as soon as I can.
Got an offer for a good paying job.
$10/hr, 8hrs daily, flexible work, for a period of 1 week.
BUT I CAN'T TAKE ON THE JOB!!!! =( Why? It's next week,
the week where I'll be kept busy with my preparation for
Hari Raya as well as the finals for Talentime (if I get
it, that is). Oh well, shared the job offer with my
friends. Hope they'll get it. ;)
It's a lazy Monday. A Monday where
there's so much to do yet so little time. It's times like
these I wished I can clone myself so that I can do more.
I'm sure some of you out there ever felt that way.
However, if I was to clone myself, I better make sure I
can control my clone. Else there'll be lots of trouble in
the world! Dean's world, that is. Hahaha...
Today Adeline asked for my help to
do an online survey. The last question of the survey goes
something like 'Would you be interested in working for AIA
during your vacation/free time? If yes what would be your
expected pay?'
My answer was 'No'. Basically I've
already decided that I won't find a job in the
life-planning industry. At least 1/8 of my friends are in
the industry. So when the right time comes along, I can
turn to them for their expertise. I rather be the consumer
than the competitor. Haha..
