What a weekend this has been.
Globally, people are celebrating Halloween. Manchester
United lost their first EPL game this weekends to
Portsmouth (they were trashed 2-0). Locally, the Subaru
Impreza challenge has begun, with 240 people vying for the
car itself. All these people have to do is stay 'attached'
to the car by placing their hands onto the car and remain
there, come rain or shine. They have to endure the weather
as well as tiredness and hunger. The last one standing
wins the car. A test of human endurance indeed. Motivated
by greed nonetheless. Oh well, anything that can motivate
you can accomplish anything. I'll take part too if I have
the chance. Right....
What a weekend. My date on Saturday
got cancelled at the eleventh hour. Disappointed? Yes. But
in a way it's a blessing in disguise. I found myself dead
tired after work. So tired that I slept early (0030hrs).
That's the earliest I ever slept in weeks, maybe even
months! Had a really good sleep, thanks to the cool and
rainy weather.
Speaking of which, I realized that
it has been raining consistently for the past week. Every
day to be exact. Perhaps the monsoon season has decided to
come by early this time around? Or maybe it's to reflect
the blues that some of my friends are experiencing? All I
know is that it's a good time to sleep but sleep is a
luxury that I can't afford much, for now.
Oh well, November's here. A new
month to look forward to, starting with a new week that
lies ahead...

It'll be one week to this day that
I'll be going for my qualifying rounds for the school's
Talentime. So far had picked the following songs to sing :
'Qi Li Xiang', 'Ge Jian', 'Jie Kou' (all 3 by Zhou Jie Lun),
'Sway', 'Come Fly With Me' (these 2 songs done by Michael
Buble) and 'Angels' by Robbie Williams. Pending
considerations is 'Ji Mo De Ji Jie' by David Tao and 'Wei
Yi' by Wang Lee Hom. Hmmm... will have to look for the KTV
mtv of these songs soon. Oh, any help will be appreciated!
;) So far other than 'Ji Mo De Ji Jie' (thanks Sean!),
I've yet to acquire the mtv for the rest of the songs.
As I surfed the net today, I
stumbled upon the following:

This is the teaser poster for the
highly anticipated films of all time, Star Wars Episode
III : Revenge Of The Sith. Found and taken from
Star Wars Offical
Website. Oh, as I browse through, I learnt that the
teaser trailer will be launched 1 week to this day as
well. Can't wait for that! The film itself will be screen
on 19th May 2005. The title for Episode III is quite
familiar, isn't it? Think about the third film for Lord Of
The Rings. Hehehe....
I'm sure that quite a number of
people are looking forward to this weekends. From what I
gathered, there'll be plenty of partying all around. Why?
Where were you born, Mars? It's Halloween people!! Time to
dress up as ghosts (for some no dressing up required, lack
of sleep can make you look like a ghost!), ghouls and
what-nots. Trick or Treats anyone?
Today Zonghao told me that he is
coming up with his own website. He has already made a
banner. I'll look forward to the website itself.

Got
this pic thru email
Woke up to a cool weather (thanks
to the rain) and the first thought that came to mind was
'Shit! I'm late for work!'
Haha... so did a quick change and
rushed off to work. Luckily my workplace is nearby so
ended up being only 5 mins late for work. Phew....
Had quite a long day and was so
tired that when I got home, I realized that I had left my
favourite jacket at my workplace. Will have to pick it up
soon, maybe tomorrow.
Anyway, today I finally downloaded
the demo for 'Need For Speed : Underground 2' (NFSU2).
After installing and trying the game out, I have this to
say: EXCELLENT! The graphics
are nice and the game play is enjoyable. There's plenty of
new features to the game, such as World Roaming where you
can roam the world in your car. The final product will be
out next month. You can download your copy of the demo
from the
official website. The file is pretty big though
(345mb).
Singapore
Idol fever is heating up! Now there's only 6
contestants left. I managed to catch the whole show. My
prediction is that Chris is on his way out. He performed
rather badly tonight. So did Leandra. The other
contestants (Olinda, Sylvester, Taufik, Daphne) shone
through their performance. Well, best of luck to the
contestants.
Later in the night I watched bits
of the movie 'Best Of The Best 3'. Bits of it because I
was also playing the game NFSU2. Anyway the movie was
about a small town that had elements of racial
discrimination with focus on whites against all others and
how a martial arts master (Asian of course) fought the
white supremacists to teach them a lesson. The movie
itself was not really good, but my aim is here is to bring
your focus on racial discrimination.
Let's face it. Racial
discrimination is prevalent in almost every modern
society. People tend to be wary of others who are
different from them. This can lead to unfounded worries
and unnecessary fear. It doesn't help that the media tend
to show stereotypes of certain races. We can't fully
eliminate the problem. It's like a stain that won't go
away. What we can do is to minimize the problem and strive
to live harmoniously. The first step, of course, is to
know more people outside your own race. The next step...
well, I live that to you to figure it out.

First, a joke to share with you.
Love
Making
A Frenchman and an Italian were
seated next to an Englishman on
an overseas flight. After a few cocktails, the men began
discussing their home lives.
"Last night I made love to my wife four times," the
Frenchman
bragged, "and this morning she made me delicious crepes
and she
told me how much she adored me."
"Ah, last night I made love to my wife six times," the
Italian
responded, "and this morning she made me a wonderful
omelet and
told me she could never love another man."
When the Englishman remained silent, the Frenchman smugly
asked,
"And how many times did you make love to your wife last
night?"
"Once," he replied.
"Only once?" the Italian arrogantly snorted. "And what did
she
say to you this morning?"
"Don't stop."
End of Joke
Second, an interesting and funny
article for those graduating. Just as there were Newton's
3 Laws of Motion, there are also Newton's 3 Laws of

Anyway for the first time
since this webbie was launched I managed to put up
an entry on the actual day itself! Yes! A small
achievement for today.
Alas, as the day is not yet
over, I am at loss for words. Blogger's block
perhaps?
Talking about blogging, it
seems blogspot is down. Can't access any of my
friend's blogs.

Blogspot is up again as of
0045hrs. I checked it out after fixing my dad's PC for the
1000th time.
As I clean up part of my room, I am
reminded again of man's greatest enemy. First and foremost
is dust. No matter how much you rub, scrub and wipe, the
formidable dust keeps on coming back. It's ever-returning
presence serves to torment you. And it goes stronger when
you do nothing to get rid of it. Worse, it can attack your
health if you let it grow in numbers. Thus if there is
something that should be invented very soon, it is a way
to kill dust and ensure it never comes back. Let us unite
and fight against man's greatest enemy: dust. |

"It's when
your life is threatened that you really fully appreciate
and value life. Life is very precious, but can be
constantly jeopardized by forces outside our control."
- Extracted from 'Living The 7 Habits' by Stephen R.
Covey.
The following sentence stood out
like a sore thumb while I was reading the book. The book
was a blissfully borrowed wrongly book. Initially I was
looking for 'The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People' from
the same author, but I borrowed this one instead as the
title looked similar. Still, it's a blessing in disguise.
I've yet to finish the book so can't provide any review,
but I can say that the contents are inspirational.
Within the short span of 4 days, I
gave some advice to some friends who were facing some
downside in their lives. They were facing some difficult
situations with their relationships. I hope the advices
were helpful. Well, I gave the advice based on a lesson
that I learnt. The lesson is reflected in the phrase
above. The lesson is this : 'You can't control the things
that happen to you, but you can control the way you react
to things that happened.'
Many times we dream, we plan and we
hope things will go the way they should. Yet just as many
times, things don't go the way we expect it. So what do
you do? What do you do?
Well, you can sit and mop over
spilled milk. Become angry at the world and push away
those who care for you. Blame everyone and everything.
However, take a step back and look. Doing such things are
not constructive nor does it help to improve the
situation. You will be stuck at where you are. You may
even enter a vicious cycle that leads down the path of
self-destruction. Yet many of us tend to take time to do
such things, at the very basic complain about the things
that happened. This is the emotional side of us reacting.
I believe it's ok to react to your emotions. It's what
that makes us feel human. But don't let it cloud your
judgment and don't spend too long a time. You still have a
lifetime ahead of you.
So what can you do to make things
better? The ways are abundant. However when we are feeling
low it's hard to see the brighter side of life. That very
much is understandable. Thus you can either seek out those
who are willing to listen to you (they usually are those
who care for you as well, and you know who they are), or
you can look into the mirror and tell yourself, 'Look,
this is getting nowhere. I have a life and I must not keep
it waiting. Time to take that step towards a better life.
Tell me how.' Eventually, the answer will come to you. If
it didn't, seek it harder. You know you can. ;)
Today I had another gathering, this
time with my friends from SIM. We went to break fast
together at Arnold's in City Plaza. I believe this is the
only outlet in Singapore. Now Arnold's is what I would
call a 'retro' fast food outlet. It opened when I was very
young, 5 or 6 years old. Surprisingly it managed to
survive the stiff competition against big boys such as
McDonalds and KFC. I found out why. The fried chicken is
really good! It's not that oily, and the meat is quite
tender. Yummy~ Or maybe I'm just very hungry? Haha.. I
leave it to you to decide.
After dinner we took a stroll down
Geylang Serai to check out the mega bazaar. There were
plenty of stuff on sale there, mostly clothing, carpets
and household decorations. Plenty of food too, such as
traditional tidbits and snacks. However nothing really
caught our attention. What was most surprising was the
crowd. The crowd was pretty thin. Maybe because it's a
weekday? Anyway after walking around aimlessly, we chilled
out at Coffee Bean before separating. The whole outing was
enjoyable. Too bad we didn't bring along camera to capture
the moments.

I've finally signed up for the
talentime competition that will be held in SIM. Wohoo!
Have yet to pick a song, but definitely will have to do so
soon. Then it's a matter of looking for the KTV MTV and
practice. Preliminary rounds starts next week (4-6th Nov).
So there is little time to spare.
I finally managed to hit the books
today and did a bit of studying. This is mainly thanks to
Shihui. She wanted to stay back in school to study for her
music exams alone. I didn't have plans after class so I
figured I stayed as well to study. She made a promise to
start studying her school work next week. I'm going to
help her with that. Haha.. Anyway ended up breaking fast
in Megabites. There was an interesting sight in Megabites.
I wasn't the only one breaking fast; there were other
Muslim students who was waiting to break fast. All of us
were waiting for the exact moment before we can tuck in to
the food that lay before us. And when the time came....
yum yum!
Oh, a small accomplishment was
achieved today. I finally finished reading the first novel
that I've touched this year. Yay! The book is 'Babylon
Rising' by Tim Lahaye and Greg Dinallo. It is a story
of a present times biblical archaeologist who goes in
search of the Brazen Serpent. The story is pretty much
like Indiana Jones. This book is the first of it's series,
so I will be looking forward to the reading next book
which is probably out by now.
On my way home I passed by Yishun
10 and decided to catch the show, 'Sky
Captain And The World Of Tomorrow'. I couldn't find
anyone else who wants to watch it, and the person who did
seemed interested didn't seem available to watch it.
Anyway, the show is really nice! I quite enjoyed myself
watching the show. The special effects are as good as Lord
Of The Rings, and the action sequences are nicely
choreographed. Jude Law and Gwyneth Paltrow are pretty
comical onscreen as their characters playfully pretend not
to be interested in each other. The movie seems to carry a
message, one that I will share here in due time. Well,
this movie deserves 2 thumbs up. It's the first movie to
be filmed entirely against a blue screen (huh?).

Captain : An enjoyable movie
